Cam: what a token is worth by the time it reaches you.

Ask how much Chaturbate models make, or what cam models make anywhere, and every answer you find is somebody's estimate — because neither Chaturbate nor Stripchat publishes an hourly. What they do publish is everything that happens to a token between a fan's card and your bank account: the cut, the floor, the wait, and the charge for sending it. That chain is the answer. It's shorter than you'd hope in one place and a good deal longer in another.

The short version — read this, skip the rest if you like

  1. A token is worth the same five cents to you on both platforms. What a fan paid for that token is the variable, and it is the one number neither platform prints beside the other.
  2. Chaturbate publishes exactly one fan price: the wire-transfer one. It's also the cheapest price it publishes, and it carries a minimum purchase large enough that a first-time viewer would not clear it. Every figure here built on that price is a ceiling, and we say so each time.
  3. Then there is the charge for sending you your own money. Chaturbate publishes one on nine of its eleven payout methods; Stripchat says it pays those costs itself. Same token, opposite last mile.
  4. Fast payouts on Chaturbate open only after you have completed normal ones — two inside the US, four outside it. The month you most need the money quickly is the month you can't have it.
Every figure below carries the document it came from and the date we read it. Where a platform publishes nothing, the cell says that instead of guessing.

What you're actually selling

Cam is the only stream on this map where you never see the price of the thing you sold. You set a rate in tokens. A fan pays for tokens in dollars, in a shop you have no access to, at a price that depends on how many they bought at once. Then the token lands in your account worth five cents. The gap between what they paid and what you got is the platform's, and nobody sends you the receipt.

Stripchat, to its credit, explains the mechanism on an open help page: larger token packages cost the fan less per token, models are always paid the same five cents, so the share reaching the model depends on which package the fan bought rather than on any rate. That's the clearest sentence either platform has written about its own economics, and it means the honest answer to "what percentage does cam take" is that there's no percentage. There's a spread, and where you sit in it is decided by a stranger at a checkout.

“You set the rate. The fan sets the price. Nobody tells you which.”

So this page doesn't chase a percentage. It follows one hundred dollars of a fan's money through every step the platforms do document — the conversion, the floor, the cadence and the charge for sending it — and stops where the documents stop. That leaves gaps. The gaps are marked, because a gap you can see is worth more to you than a number we made up.

What it pays

Four steps, in the order a dollar meets them. The middle column is what a platform prints. The one beside it is what that figure comes to once you follow it all the way out.

What it costs to be paid

The cut is the cost everyone talks about. These four are the ones that decide what a first month actually feels like, and none of them appears on a comparison page.

The conversion step
Tokens are not money until you convert them, and Chaturbate generates no payment at all until you have. Earning isn't the same as being owed. If you've never opened Token Stats, your balance is a score, not a bank transfer waiting to happen.
The floor, which is not a delay
Every method sets a minimum, and under it the money doesn't arrive late. It doesn't arrive. Chaturbate says so in its own words: the balance rolls into the next period until the minimum is met. On the more expensive methods that is several periods of earning before anything moves at all.
The wait before you can wait less
Daily payouts answer every question a new broadcaster has about timing, and a new broadcaster is exactly who can't have them. They open only after normal payouts have completed, and after more of them if you're outside the US. Plan the first two months around the slow cadence, because you'll be on it.
The hours, which are the product
This is a live stream, the room is empty until you're in it, and it stops earning the moment you leave. Budget the setup, the quiet first hour and the coming-down afterwards as part of the shift. They're part of it whether or not you price them.

Where it runs — and what it takes to get paid there

No row on this page is affiliate. The cam lane's referral programme is one we have not joined, so nothing here pays us and nothing here is ranked by what might. When that changes, the tag changes and the order stays exactly as it is. How we earn money.

Should you run it?

Yes, if
  • You have hours before you have an audience — cam is the one stream where a stranger can find you tonight
  • Nothing you make should outlive the session; a live show has no back catalogue to leak
  • You are in the US, or on a payout method that charges you nothing to be paid
No, if
  • You need money inside the first fortnight, on a platform that pays twice a month
  • Your only workable payout method is a crypto transfer or an international cheque
  • You want a rate you can quote in advance — this lane doesn't publish one, and neither do we

What nobody publishes

  • What a fan pays for a token on a card. Chaturbate publishes its wire price and nothing else, and the wire price it does publish carries a minimum purchase no first-time viewer would clear. Every figure on this page built from that price is a ceiling, and the real number sits under it by an amount neither of us can see.
  • What a cam hour pays. Stripchat has an article with that exact title; it explains that the figure appears in your own dashboard, averaged over your last thirty hours of streaming. Chaturbate has no such article. Between them the lane publishes the method and never the answer.
  • What Chaturbate keeps, stated as a share. The only percentage in its help centre is a twenty-percent affiliate commission on referred users' spending — a different product, and the figure most often reprinted as a broadcaster's cut. The floor on our income map is arithmetic on two published token prices, because there is no published rate to read.
  • What Stripchat's absorbed transaction costs actually come to. It says it pays them. It doesn't say what they are. We have published that as a claim attributed to Stripchat rather than as a figure. There's no document to check it against.
  • Whether any of this describes your room. Demand is niche-specific and neither we nor the platforms can see your traffic. Nothing here is tax, legal or accounting advice either — that is somebody else's lane.

How we earn money

Plainly, because you're about to trust our numbers with your income. If any of this reads badly to you, that's useful information about us — not something we'd rather you missed.

  1. Some platform links pay us if you sign upA referral commission, paid by the platform, never added to your side. Those links are marked in the text, not buried in a nav.
  2. It never buys a position, a score, or a kind reviewOrder in the map comes from the numbers in the map. A platform with a worse take-rate ranks worse even when it pays us more — and a platform that pays us nothing still gets a row.
  3. No readable terms page, no rate, no linkIf a platform won't publish what it keeps, we won't guess on its behalf, and we won't send you there for money.
  4. We don't sell a course, a coaching call, or a template packNothing on this site depends on you believing the ceiling is higher than it is. That's the point of publishing the arithmetic instead of the dream.

Subonomics participates in affiliate programmes and may earn a commission when you sign up to a platform through our links, at no extra cost to you. Disclosure required by the FTC, and we'd say it anyway.
