Paid chat: what an hour of it actually pays.
Sexting, GFE, BFE, “just talking” — whatever it's called on your page, it's the highest-earning hour most creators have and the one most likely to burn them out. Here's the arithmetic, the costs nobody prints, and how to tell if it's your lane.

- Paid chat is the highest-earning hour available to most creators, because it can't be pirated and doesn't need a back catalogue.
- It is also the only stream with a hard ceiling: your income stops the moment you close the app, and it scales by hours, not by audience.
- Per-minute pricing beats per-message pricing for almost everyone. Per-message rewards fast typing; per-minute rewards being good company.
- Run it in blocks you announce in advance. Always-on availability is how this stream stops being a job and starts being your whole life.
What it actually is
Paid chat is you, typing, for money — per message, per minute, or per block of time you've sold in advance. It sits inside the platforms you already use, which is exactly why it's so easy to fall into by accident: someone offers to pay for your attention, you say yes, and three weeks later you're running a business you never priced.
The reason it pays better than almost anything else on the map is that nobody can pirate it. A clip leaks. A set leaks. A conversation that only exists because you're in it cannot be repackaged and resold by a stranger on a forum. You're not selling a file, you're selling presence — and presence has no leak problem, no takedown queue, and no back catalogue competing with your new work.

Which brings us to the catch, and we're going to be blunt about it because a page that only sells you the upside isn't worth reading: this is the one stream where your income is capped by your own nervous system. Everything else on the map keeps earning while you sleep. This one stops the second you close the app.

What it costs you
Hours are the obvious cost. The ones that catch people out are quieter than that, so here they are in the order they usually show up.
- Hours
- The obvious one, and the one people underestimate. Budget the time you spend rereading, staying in character and coming back down afterwards — it's part of the shift, so price it as part of the shift.
- Response debt
- Every regular you take on is a standing expectation. Ten regulars is a rota. Thirty is a rota you can't leave. Cap the number before it caps you.
- Emotional labour
- You are, some nights, somebody's only warm conversation of the week. That's genuinely lovely and genuinely heavy, sometimes in the same hour. Write your boundary scripts before you need them, not during.
- Boundary drift
- The ask creeps. It always creeps. Decide in advance what's off the table and price the rest, so a “just this once” is a menu item rather than a negotiation at 2am.
